HIGHLANDER BAND CELEBRATES RECORD ALL-STATE BAND PLACEMENTS
DALLAS - January 22, 2019 - The Highlander Band placed eight students into the Texas All-State Band - more than any other school within Area D, which includes 195 school districts. Students who earn an All-State Band placement represent the top two percent of Texas band students participating in the audition process.
Additional notable achievements for the Highlander Band include:
- Fifty Highlander Band students earned a spot in an All-Region Band and participated in a clinic and concert at Duncanville High School on January 12.
- Twenty Highlander Band students ranked high enough at All-Region to advance to All-Area and audition for an All-State Band placement.
- Three of the students earning a spot in the All-State Band have earned the honor multiple times: seniors Charlie Conner, Madison Triplett and Nathan Denman.
- Brandon Luk earned a spot in an All-State Band as a freshman, which is a rare achievement!
- Zack Shawver is the first Highlander Band percussionist to earn a spot in an All-State Band.
